AIESEC Life was pleased to have 2 award recipients of the AIESEC Alumni Hall of Fame for 2017; Augie Fabela and Ellen Lewis.

This year's awards recognized alumni whose careers after AIESEC created a tangible impact in their environment - a corporation they work for, their own business, or a social project in their community.  Specifically they were looking for stories of alumni who have contributed to one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals in their life after AIESEC.

We'd like to share just a little bit about our winners.

Ellen Lewis, PhD, is the first female inducted into the AIESEC Alumni Hall of Fame!!  Ellen, San Jose '87, is an International Organization Development Consultant and Fellow Scholar at the University of Hull, Faculty of Business, Law and Politics, Center for Systems Studies, United Kingdom.

Ellen has spent her career coaching on gender equality, change management and organization development for 27+ years in Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, and the United States. Ellen is bicultural/bilingual and a native Spanish/English speaker with a reputation for building strong partnerships across institutional and cultural boundaries. Her work has directly contributed to SDGs 5 and 10 and she has worked for the UN Women - Independent Evaluation Office helping create systematic evaluation guide that integrates gender equality, environments and voices from the margins (the GEMs).

Augie Fabela, who hails from Stanford '87, is the American founder of VEON, a personal internet/tech company, which is the world's 7th largest wireless mobile communications company with 235 million customers--more than AT&T and Verizon. He was the CEO of FastForward.ai, a Silicon Valley start-up. Active certified police officer in the Chicago area since 2011 (Chief, Commander SpecOps, SWAT Operator).

VEON has contributed to numerous SDGs including 4, 7, 8, 9, 13, and 14.  VEON's corporate responsibility spans the countries they serve from Russia and Italy, to emerging markets in Pakistan, Algeria, and Bangladesh, to Eurasia including Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Tajikistan and Georgia.

We'd like to congratulate them both!  And a huge thank you to Augie for becoming the newest member of our Leadership Circle of donors.
