Some info about our guest speakers:

Mary Walsh is a 25-year veteran of Walt Disney Animation Studios and has been leading the Walt Disney Animation Research Library (ARL) and Walt Disney Ink & Paint Department (I&P) since 2007. Prior to her current position, Mary spent more than a decade working in a myriad of roles for Walt Disney Animation Studios, including development, production management, training, talent outreach, and recruitment.

In addition to having one of the most unique roles, Mary believes she has one of the best jobs at The Walt Disney Company.  Her focus at the ARL, which houses a collection of over 65 million pieces of original Disney animation art, is to ensure that the care, condition, and accessibility of the world’s largest collection of animation art is maintained and safeguarded for generations to come. Along with her team of dedicated and passionate professionals specializing in collections management, research, image capture, design, and exhibitions, Mary shepherds the many and varied ARL projects that support the creation of new content and products based on the art within the collection. The ARL collaborates with researchers, historians, and authors to support the study of the Walt Disney Studios’ impact on the unique art form of animation. Mary also contributes to the continued evolution of the ARL’s original art exhibition program and has led the department’s curatorial team in the creation of several exhibits that are currently touring in Europe and Asia.

Bardo S. Ramirez is a Wharton graduate and Tony Award winning Broadway producer.  He has spent most of the past 15 years helping make cartoons for major Hollywood studios.  Film credits include Disney's TangledPrincess and the Frog, Winnie the Pooh, and Tinker Bell, and he is currently Supervising Producer for multiple seasons of the Curious George television series for Universal.  Specializing in building high quality animation capacity for major studios, Bardo has assembled pipelines that connect creatives in Los Angeles to animation studios and artists in Canada, Asia and Europe, and helped deliver world class animation at every conceivable price-point, across every existing platform from IMAX to iPhone both domestically and internationally.  He has even dabbled in theme parks.  Bardo's favorite part of working internationally is seeing people from different cultures united by a common love and understanding of animation.

Bardo and Mary met while working together at Disney Animation.  They fell in love, got married and have twin boys who just turned nine.  In his free time, Bardo runs a Cub Scout pack and coaches youth baseball.  In her free time, Mary supports her husband’s passion for running a Cub Scout pack, coaching youth baseball and, when she can squeeze it in, running and reading.
