Members of the AIESEC Boston Board of Advisors hear about progress in developing LCs in Boston and make plans for future alumni and student activities.

Domenic Smith, VP for LC Development for AIESEC-US, reported good progress with Northeastern University and Suffolk University. Amine Lazreg, formerly from the Montreal LC and now a student at Northeastern, and alum Laurie Levesque, Dean of Undergraduate Programs at Sawyer Business School, Suffolk University, shared plans for developing LCs at Northeastern and Suffolk. BU is the third priority for Boston. The target is to have LCs up and running this academic year. Domenic is focusing on quick onboarding for new people involved while keeping the teams small and efficient in the first year.

Plans to support LCs include:

1.  Training workshops in sales, presentations, motivating groups, and teamwork in multicultural settings
2.  Panel discussions on transitioning when going abroad and back home, leveraging your AIESEC experience and network, and research for leads for sales
3.  A mentoring program based on the Seattle BoA model

Tentative events include:

1.  A panel of alumni speaking about the importance of AIESEC in their lives followed by a networking opportunity for alums and LC students which could be held at Suffolk
2.  A panel of four students describing different areas of LC activity
3.  An event on November 17 when Victor Loewenstein is in Cambridge
4.  A meeting in December for alumni, LC contacts and others to launch the mentoring project
5.  A possible holiday party in December

All of these depend on increased participation by alumni in the Boston/Cambridge area. Alumni interested is leading or supporting any of these events should email Ken Phillips, chair of the AIESEC Boston Board of Advisors at ngofutures@gmail.com .

The meeting closed with a shout of appreciation for AIESEC-US and their activity for LCD in Boston.
