Claire Wang, Local Committee President from AIESEC Seattle, was recently awarded the GBA Faye Liebowitz Scholarship for excellence in traineeship raising. She helped her local committee raise 6 traineeships between August and December and was nominated by the AIESEC US Member Committee for this scholarship. The GBA Faye Liebowitz scholarship was establish by alumna Cathy Shelton in honor of her late friend who was instrumental in creating the Global Business Association (GBA) chapter in NYC.  Each year, AIESEC US may nominate one of its members to receive this award as recognition for outstanding work in sales.  Claire shares a little bit about herself and some details behind her success in raising traineeships.

I’m a junior major in Statistics at the University of Washington. Over the past two years, it has been such a challenging yet rewarding experience being a sales representative of AIESEC. As a non-business student, I exposed myself to the business community and practiced my communication skills. What motivates me to be an AIESEC brand ambassador for companies is to bring diversity and cultural awareness to workplaces in the US.

What really contributed to my success in raising the 6 traineeships in 2014 is persistence and follow-ups. The first contract is a re-raise with our long-time partner Vigor Industrial. My team and I reached out for feedback of our services and it was easy to continue on our partnerships with the mutual care and trust.

The second case is a 5-TN contract with a tech company that experienced a broke match with us last year. Follow-up and persistence was the key to regain their trust to work with AIESEC again. I was glad to turn the impossible to possible by really showing that AIESEC cares to improve and is committed to deliver our services.

I feel honored to receive the GBA Faye Liebowitz Scholarship and hope to guide and inspire more AIESECers to raise life-changing experiences in the US.
